I am writing on behalf of my girlfriend... She has 2 credit cards on her credit from her previous marriage. I suggested to her rather then going through with a bankruptcy we should try to get some of the old marrital debts deleted.
I guess my question is this.. these 2 credit cards which have been closed and inactive since about 1999-2000. They are still charging intrest and latepayments on a monthly basis.. One of the cards is even charging as much as 230.00 + a month. They just keep on adding it to her balance. My question is can they still do this being the accounts have been closed for so many years? Si this just there way of keeping the account active on a persons credit file to beat the 7 year clock?

Yes they can charge fees on a closed account.
Has nothing to do with the clock.
