I have a friend who is trying to establish credit but was denied by Cap1 for insufficent credit and insufficent history.I told her I would post the question here and see what the credit pro say about a company that is willing to give you a chance. If you know of any credit card companies willing to help people establish credit please let me know...

Is the only reason she is being denied, because of lack of sufficient credit history? She has a couple options then: 1) If she's a college student she can apply through her school (major CCs are always willing to get students into debt); 2) she could become an AU on someone's account, wait a couple months and then apply; or 3) she could go with a secured card through Cap One (I'm assuming when she applied, she applied for the unsecured card) or Orchard. I believe there are some prime companies that also offer secured cards (MBNA?) that she could also try.

If she has just a little credit, a couple months worth, tell her to wait until it reaches the 6 month mark and then apply for a retail card - Target, Macy's and RadioShack are all very easy to get.

    Good luck.
