Credit check before a job interview

    i actually just read that credit checks by employers should be coded as such and do not count against your FICO score. They WILL appear as a hard inquiry though. I think I read it on a brochure about hopw a FICO is calculated on www.creditboards.com

    true. but coded as employer results in no impact on FICO

    "Many kinds of inquiries arenâ??t counted at all. The score does not count it when you order your credit report or credit score from a credit reporting agency or the myFICO service. Also, the score does not count requests a lender has made for your credit report or score in order to make you a â??pre-approvedâ? credit offer, or to review your account with them, even though you may see these inquiries on your credit report. Requests that are marked as coming from employers are not counted either."

    I remember that mine distinctly said "employment inquiry." I don't know how it was coded.
