I did some research for my state, CA, and found out that the maximum amount a landlord can charge for a credit check is $30. You (the tenant) must be provided a receipt for the credit check and refunded any money above the amount paid for the credit check. You also are entitled to a copy of that credit report. The landlord must provide this to you, that is if and only if you ask. ps I am going to turn in my apt. for an apartment this weekend.
