What are the best sites to get credit reports at? What are the three credit bureaus, and which ones should I care about? How do I know what credit bureau is tracking me? Also is it safe to get a credit report/check, or does it hurt your credit rating. Thanks! Btw, this is an awesome site. I just discovered it.
1) Report Sites: Experian - www.creditexpert.com - free for 30 days then $80/year after that so cancel if you dont wanna pay. Equifax - Credit Profile for an individual $8 charge, Score Power for report+score and a bit more $, and Credit Watch for 6 reports and even more $ Trans Union - From their website I was locked out though and had to order it through snail mail...don't be suprised if it happens to you too. 2) 3 CRA's Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union 3) see #2 4) They all are ...trust me! 5) Yes it is safe, they pull what is called a "soft inquiry" when you order your own report...a "soft inquiry" does not hurt your score...a "hard inquiry" (one that a creditor pulls to check your report) is what hurts your score or credit rating.
Does each credit bureau keep different information? Is it worth it to check what each one has on record about me? I checked the CreditExpert.com one and I found open but inactive accounts which I forgot about and closed up - thanks for telling me about this!
By the way, my credit score is 711. I am 19 years old, never missed a payment. How does that score rate?
MOsdef they diff info that' s why in order for you to see the entire picture, you need all three. If you are unemployed, have been recently denied for credit, or live in a state where it has been legislated that you are entitled to a free report you should get it for free.
