All: I Posted the message below a while back and only received one reply. My question is, does anyone on this board know the definite laws regarding using info in a report while it is under investigation or reverification??? Further, can you point out any valid laws/FTC opinions on paper that address this matter??? Thanks! kemcos | 31 posts since Feb 2003 12.236.160.139 | 02.12.2003 @ 22:56 I recently helped out a friend who had scores in the mid-600's on her files, and only a few unpaid tax liens (state and federal). I disputed them for her, and two weeks later (today) the reports were run and were between 690 and 767. The question is, since the disputes are still pending, do the CRA's now suppress the derog. items from the scoring model when an investigation is pending???? This is the only explanation in this case, I have never seen it before. But clearly, the scores have risen dramatically while the dispute is in progress, all else remains the same (even the files pulled were from the same system, so scoring deviations from different models CANNOT be credited in this case...) ->>>question For The Pros luckymom | 239 posts since Jan 2003 67.1.65.68 | 02.12.2003 @ 23:15 Yes. They are not *supposed* to factor disputed items into your score while they are being investigated. TU, however, does not follow this guideline (in my experiance) If the items are deleted, the score will remain, if not it will be lowered as the results come in. I have never read anything that says they are "supposed" to not factor into your score. Fico scores do not factor in disputed items when calculating your score. The TU and Exp. scores you get are not Fico, unless you choose the Fico score at TU. They use their own scoring models and I don't think anyone knows if disputed items are figured into those scores.
So in other words, any disputed items will be suppressed from a mortgage company's scoring model if currently in dispute?
They will be surpressed from the credit score but not from the credit file. So if you are going for a score based cc probably no problem. If you are going for a mortgage or normal cc then your dispute won't help.
