    Subject: Fw: Removel of credit INFO

    Your Credit: Personal Information goes public Starting
    July 1st, 2003, the four major credit bureaus in the
    US (Equifax, etc.) will be allowed to release credit
    info, mailing addresses, phone numbers, etc., to
    ANYONE who requests it. If you do not want to be
    included in this release of your personal information,
    you can call 1-888-567-8688. Once the message starts
    you will want option #2 (even though option #1 refers
    to this email, push #2) and then option #3.

    Here is a web site that has additional information on the Personal Credit Information going public

    <http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/protect.htm>

    I thought that this e-mail was supposed to be a hoax? Am I wrong?

    Information at the FTC site does not support the statement that effective July 1 ANYONE can obtain another person's credit report. In order to pull a report that is not your own, you have to be a business that subscribes to the CRAs service.

    All opting out does is prevent the CRAs from selling your information for marketing purposes.

    Aha...

    OK.. It turns out that this is just a hoax.. A fairly popular hoax since it was found on several urban myths/internet hoax sites...

    False Alarm!!
