Can someone PLEASE tell me WTF is going on with companies and pulling credit!!!!

    Case#1: Utility company

Apartments that I am moving into have a website where you can transfer phone, lights, whatever.
So convenient......but wait, the light FAILED to note that they will pull your credit for transferring your ALREADY EXISTING account. I called, and asked why did you pull my report? There response, the rep that you SPOKE with would have told you they were pulling your report. My report, how the HELL did she speak to me online? My permission was never given.

    Case #2 CC Company

I recently applied and received a Chase card, when I called to activate the card, I asked the rep. would the credit department CONSIDER increasing the line because I was interested in transferring additional balances. Her response, sure let me get a little info from you. (basic info was given: income, amount wanting to transfer, things like that) Never in the conversation did she ever say, Chase will have to pull your credit report AGAIN to increase the line.
Keep in mind that pulled my report SIX days prior to this phone conversation.

I look at my report today, and there is Chase....twice!!!! (BTW, Citibank did something similar within HOURS of each other, so beware)

And it is TRULY pulling teeth trying to get this fixed.

As a consumer, are WE now suppose to read a disclaimer to companies before speaking to them about accounts?

Help me out because I am really getting fed up with dealing with this.

    Hey,

We have this board and know what is going on with credit, so that is why we are frustrated with constant pulls of credit reports.

Imagine, the person who doesn't understand credit, and doesn't know about this board doesn't care probably that their credit is pulled.

With the things we learn on this board, we get angrier at the games businesses are playing....

I know, I am trying to now educate EVERYONE that I come into contact about there credit. :) Sorry about all the typos, I was really P.O.'d when I was typing that!

Still, the trick of a utility company pulling our credit for transferring service...what's with that?

I moved my SWBell service w/ 3 years of perfect history, and they stuck me with a hard inquiry, that was back in 2000, and it's still sitting there.

I know that sucks, but think about it, it should fall off this year. (Inquiries stay on for 2 years).

I knew you knew that, but I wanted to make you feel better ;)
