Hi Everyone, Newbie here. I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with challenging inquiries on your credit report. I have two inquiries from collectors. I am working with LexLaw and they provide templates to challenge the inquiries. Just curious what, if any experience anyone has had and if there are any risks associated with the challenge. Thanks in advance.
If hard pulls were done without permissible purpose, definitely dispute them through the CRAs. If they're just soft inquiries, don't worry about them. They don't affect your credit score.
Hi, Thanks for the response. The inquiries are showing up as "hard" and have the permissible purpose listed "collections, other collections". One has a collection account on my report, which I am disputing. The other has no account or entry (yet) on my CR. So I take there is no downside to challenging these? Thanks and regards,
There's no downside to disputing them if you believe they're inaccurate. There's a lot of debate around whether CAs have the right to generate a hard pull on a disputed/unverified debt based upon how the FCRA reads, and many cases have actually ruled in favor of consumers.
