I am having problems getting credit lines with higher credit limits. I am truthful about my income, but I think my existing credit accounts and student loan debt is limiting how much they extend now. I am getting about $2K -$3K on average for my new accounts. Iam done with new accounts until I close on the mortgage in Sept 01.

Can you balance transfer an account to $0???

Let it sit one month, then call to ask if they have any lower balance transfer rates and a higher credit limit at the same time.

I did this with FIRST USA.

George has a very good point. You need to exercise the credit you have to get higher limits and lower rates. I don't have a card with less than a $5000 limit.
