My husband just got a SS#, and he has no credit. I was told that if I opened an account or put him on a existing account as a AU, it would help him establish credit. Based on my accounts, I was told that an AU will not be reported on their CR. Any suggestions?

This is a good way for someone to build a credit score

Some creditors do report on AU's CR, some do not

I know Chase does report AU's

Can he open a credit union account, to at least start building a credit file? Work from there to having a debit and credit card thru the credit union, and from there to a store or gas credit card.

just add him in some of your best cards that have perfect payment history and he will start to build his own history. Then Tell him that wait 2 or three months and then apply for an retail store or gasoline card and to Amex delta or starwood.

He Doesn't need to open a secured card or anything like that. This is the best and more easy way to buid a blank cr history.
