    Hi All...

Long time no post. Three years ago, I had nothing. I now own a 3000 SQ Ft $225K house, 2 cars, and a boat. Credit goes to this board.

My sister is looking at a company called Credit Repair Advocates to fix her credit since she doesn't want me looking at her credit mess.

Anyone with experience with them? Immediate red flags - they charge upfront and "guarantee" permanent deletions because, they say, "it's illegal for the creditors to put them back on your reports".

I'm always willing to give benefit of the doubt but these 2 red flags are biggies IMHO.

Scams depend on enough people willing to give the benefit of the doubt. For that matter, so do ollection agencies who use illegal tactics.

Once you pay your money, the cost to get it back if it is a scam exceeds what you lost. And with people looking to repair credit, or falling for fee for credit offers, they know they probably just squeezed the last out of them anyway.

Check BBB, ripoffreport.com, or do a search on the FTC site, but people can change the names they do business under fast enough to hide complaints.

I have heard several good things from users of http://www.creditrightsfoundation.com

From what I am told they charge a $700 retainer fee, send you via email all the dispute letters which you sign and mail out, if no luck they switch to letterhead from a law firm under there belt, and finally end with lawsuits until they used up all of your retainer fee at which time you can either renew or tell them to get lost. Any retainer not used within one year is refunded back to you.

I know at least 3 people who swear by them. Hope this helps your hunt for non-scams.
