Well, I have been doing this myself for 6 months, and my reports are mostly clean, and they were a mess. I know what's going on with them at all times, and I'm never in the dark. I would NEVER hire someone to do something so personal for me unless I was absolutely desperate. I think before you think about hiring these companies that you should post the generals about your baddies: What kind of account (OC, CA, CC, etc..) How old it is What state you live in (for SOL purposes) You will find that board will tell you the best route to take for each one. And our advice is FREE!
Hmmmmmm. Sounds like a thinly disguised ad to me. Credit repair firms? Bah. Humbug. Perhaps you would like to hire someone help you go to the bathroom as well? Maybe we can hear from some other credit repair firms...
Robin, I've got a judgment that is an absolute PITA! I'd be interested in details (if you're willing to share) or possibly a contact for the attorney you're using. E-mail is on.
skwirl, I've been doing it myself and getting good results. I have 1-2 collections left on each and a PITA judgment showing on one report. I'm thinking about hiring someone if I can't get it off through my own efforts. The judgment is the only thing between me and home ownership at good interest rates. FWIW, I hear some repair companies just spam the heck out of CA/OC/CRA hoping to get lucky. P.S. if you hate standing in line at the post office, www.stamps.com is great.
