Approximately 5 yrs. ago I over extended myself and defaulted on some serious credit card debt. I think the SOL on all of that debt is in my favor now. I've read many tips on cleaning up your credit record on this board. Could some one give me a step by step plan? Or, should I just sit tight until the 7 year mark?
You definitely should not sit and wait. However, credit card debt is difficult to dispute. CC companies usually respond. You may want to do the validation process. I dont know much about that process, b/c I had did really need that process to clean my credit. You may want to refer to Lizardking for that topic. You also need to be more specific about the problem you are having. How old are the accounts? And you need to be SURE the Sol has expired on these accounts b4 you are in hot water.......legally.
I would start by disputing the negative accounts with the cra's. Make sure any dispute you send is certified with return receipt. Do about 3 - 4 accounts per dispute. Then, in about 2 -3 weeks send another round out with another 3 or 4. You should start getting updated credit reports in about 40 days showing the corrections, deletions or verifications.
Sorry, I also agree with LKH.....but I was just saying that I dont think it would work for all accounts. YOU definitely want to exhaust the verification/dispute process first. Sorry for the error.....
Ok Mr. Alan. thanks to lizard, here is the information you needed.........good luck! Kristy Welsh http://www.creditinfocenter.com
I think it said "BUMP" in the language of a newbie with a very promising sense of humor. Or a schizoid.
That would be a lame attempt of trickery by a newbie just to bring his post to the top. By the way, "Who's on first?"
No, who's on third. Alan, you will fit right in here, hehe. I think Michael Kielsky has pretty well outlined the process on his site - everything's free there also. Of course it doesn't always go smoothly, but there is always someone here to answer questions. http://mix6.com/credit read the whole thing
