Dealing w/my credit situation made me to decide to look into my dh report. Wish I hadn't. I knew it was bad, but boy! I am very new to this situation so I have tons of questions. I won't try to ask all of them in one post, b/c this will be long enough. My first question is dh had a credit card with BA that b/4 we were married when things got tough, he just decided not to pay. After we got married I sent a balance transfer for the account in 12/2000 in the amount of 1000. what statements I could find stated the balance was at about 750, but the statements were OLD! I know I should have called BA and asked questions, but since it wasn't in my name, I didn't have the info to do it & dh was not making any effort to help. Niavely, I had no idea about charge offs, transfers or sold accounts. Please don't flame me for my stupidity, I am already doing it. After pulling his report today, I found that BA listed it Charged off account, account transferred or sold. This was reported on 11/1999. So I made a payment to BA a year after it was transferred or sold. How on earth do I find out what happened to that money? On 12/00, a month after BA sold the account, Gulf state listed a blance of $1455. I am assuming that this is the same account with a whole lot of interest. Is this a safe assumption? On 12/2001 it is listed again as $608, can I assume that BA actually applied my payment & this is the balance? These marks seem to have the same account #, but I don't understand why the line wasn't updated rather than placed twice. If you didn't look at the acct. #'s it would look like 2 deliquent accounts. It is listed again as OSI Funding on 1/2002. Different acct. # but same $608 balance. From the board, I gather that this is the same as Gulf State & is a duplicate which is wrong. After writing that, I think I'm logically on the right track & that these accounts are legitmate. This is so daunting, I'm tempted to ignore it all & wait out the 7 yrs. What actions should I take now? Can I have the OSI mark & the duplicate GS removed as duplicates. Can I then negotiate payment in return for removing the final GS mark.
