    Hello,

    Need Help / Experience...

This is in reference to my dispute of inquires off my Trans Union (TU) credit report. I picked up a standard letter from the forum (Sample letters) and send it via certified mail to Trans Union. (Disputing 4 inquires)

Yesterday I got a response from them via regular mail saying that creditors donâ??t need written authorization for inquires and I should contact the creditors directly if these were not initiated by me.

What is the best possible legal way to proceed...

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank You,

    nmelwani

Yes - dispute the inquiries with the company that pulled the inquiry. Ask them for their permissible purpose and request a copy of your signed application (for credit or employment). Inform them that if they cannot provide a credible permissible purpose, you want the inquiries removed. Might advise them that the FCRA provides for damages of $1000 for each inquiry made without permissible purpose. If you actually applied for the credit online - be advised that your online credit application most likely contains your IP addresses.
