About 5 years ago I went through a divorce and home foreclosure and racked up a lot of credit card bills. So last fall I started to clean up my credit report. My foreclosed home showed up on it as being "foreclosed : closed". Pastdue: $18,113 / payment : Foreclosed / Balance : -0-. So I called Suntrust and they had me fill out a credit dispute. the dispute came back and said they are reporting the account accurately. So I called them again asked what could be done to get it fixed. they said they no longer have my account on file and there was nothing I could do about it.... What do I do now? Thanks for the help. Nathan
What do you mean by "fill out a credit dispute"; do you mean you disputed the account through one of the CRAs, or some sort of internal dispute with the creditor? If you disputed the item directly with the OC, and did this: The OC/Suntrust was required to do this: Pursuant to (iv), how was the reported information found to be accurate if they told you that they no longer have your account on file? You need them to put that in writing, that is, that there is no account on file for you anymore. Talking to them on the phone is useless and proves nothing (whether they're agreeing to delete late pays or verifying no account on files), you still want it in writing. Seems like they've had problems...
