Hi, I recently pulled my credit report and the following was showing up on my credit report.

    Account Name: PROFESSIONAL COLLECTION
    Account Number: 8888****************
    Acct Type: Collection Department/Agency/Attorney
    Acct Status: Closed
    Date Open: 4/1/2004
    Balance: $420
    Terms : 1 Month
    Past Due: $517
Payment Status: Seriously past due date/ assinged to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department

Comments:Subscriber report dispute resolved - Consumer disagreed.

This is a phone bill that I cosigned a friend. She never paid for it and it was paid for by me during 2004. I don't know why it's still on my credit report. Please tell me if this is bad??? since I got turned down by a credit card recently due to a collection note on my account and low credit. During 2004 my credit was 775 now it's 644 i'm so sad =(

i would try disputing it first with the cra's and see what happens.

plus maybe a stern letter to the collection agency..

it does not seem that an acccount can be closed and past due?
