Hello. I tried to search on my question, and couldn't find anything. If this is a redunant question, I apologize in advance, and perhaps you can just give me the correct search terms and I will find it myself.

Here is my question. I will be getting married next year and will be changing my last name. Also, I just moved to a different state last year. I am curious as to how this will change my credit report - and if it is will cause me to lose any past history?

I have read time and time again, that when a woman changes her last name when she marries, that she will lose her credit history. This doesn't make sense to me, because I would assume that it is tied by social security numbers? Believe me, I would be more than happy to lose my credit history, since it has a bankruptcy on it and erroneous charge offs, which I am not going to pursue, but wait patiently till it is time for them to be removed. Also, by the time that I marry, we will be living in another part of the state - will that make a difference?

I do not plan to join my personal accounts with my future husband, I want them kept seperately, or at least until the bankruptcy is removed, which won't be for several years to come. Nor do I plan to take advantage of his good credit record either, I want them seperate.

Final question, I have not ordered a credit report since I moved to another state. I want to know what is on it, but I don't to give the CRA's anymore information on me, if I don't have to. I did change my address on two credit cards I have when I moved, so I assume that they know where I live.

Can anyone tell me the mechanics of all of this? Or give me any advice?
