I want to get a credit report on myself, I want to try and fix my credit... I have a couple of questions on it - If I have information on it - That's either wrong or bad - or I don't agree with - or didn't know it was on there and just want to pay to get it off... Etc.

    Can I do this?

If I pay the company what they think I owe them, will they take it off my record? Is that guaranteed?

Is it bad to run credit checks on myself? does THAT show up on my record? is THAT bad?

What's the best place to go? I see places for $5, for free. for $50.. and soo n..

I see 3 in 1 credit reports, etc.. Im not rich here :) I just want somthing as fast as possible tho, a decent report.. etc

Someone please help me out :) I dont have much time in my life, but this is something that has to be done.

I love the quick replies on this board!

Should I go directly to each CRA? (or whatever they're called, lol)

How much should I look to pay for each report?

There's what major ones? Equifax, ... That's all I can think of right now..

    thanks :)

Equifax, Transunion and Experian. You can also go to these sites online. Equifax.com...etc.

    To get your reports:

    Experian- www.creditexpert.com
you can sign up for a 30 free trial (cancel within the 30 days if you want to)

    Trans Union- www.transunion.com
if you've been denied credit you can get a free report

    Equifax- www.equifax.com
costs $12.95 for report and score
    or
    www.privista.com
they also have a 30 free trial-I think the reports are weekly (haven't used them so I don't know much about it)

I think that is your first step. Once you have the reports look them over carefully then ask specific questions.

I got my report from creditexpert and equifax - transunion can't verify my information

One thing I noticed on my report,

On both reports, it reports my wrong address (one I never had)

on both reports, it shows a past due amount of 117 to pennsel comunications (pager service, i paid in full)

This is all - This is why i have such bad credit? Thats the only negative items on my credit

I just paid that account in full, they said they can't remove it but will report it as PAID

How bad is that? :) Or is that even negative?

Once you/ve paid it, it is hard to get it removed. You can correct the personal information, such as your address, etc.

Call Transunion - your incorrect address is probably causing the problem, They will ask you to send them a utility bill, driver's license, etc. I always send it. Lots of people on here disagree, but I think you are causing your own problems when you don't - they just want to make sure it's really you. You can fax it to them. Blask out accounts numbers, etc that they don't need.
