OK. That should leave you in a pretty good position regardless of how long ago it was. I'd go after the last reporting collector and make him prove the debt. If he can't do it, then first threaten to sue him for putting false and derogatory info on your credit report, enablement of identy fraud theft, and whatever else. Act like you want big damages and are willing to go to court if your demands are not met. Be ready to do so. Make them take it off your reports and if you want to go so far, make them pay for their damages to your credit. Then go after the next one and do the same thing. Regardless of how you go about it, threat, bluster, bluff, lawsuits or whatever, just take it one step at a time.
Thanks for the suggestions Bill. I have managed to have the items removed that were not mine, but it seems to me that the "clutter" it created has hurt. And just as others here have suggested, I'm not convinced that anything is ever really deleted. They tell you it is, and the copy of your report they send you doesn't have it on it, but I really wonder. Anyway, thanks to people here, I'm slowly getting there. By the time my TU report is cleaned up, really cleaned up, I'll be so old that I wouldn't be able to use a credit card anyway!
Actually, I have a copy of my TU report on the way now. When I get it, I'm going to dispute every negative on it. And I have used your advice and contacted the original creditors in some cases and that has worked.
LOL I have always worried about them combining information of another person. Glad my name is so uncommon...no one names their kids Nave these days. Hope it works out JD! Twice the work but keep it up, you will succeed. -Peace, Dave
Talking about problems with common names, imagine this one. A lady went to the welfare office and the worker asked her how many kids she had. 10 was the reply. Getting out his pen, the worker asked what are their names. Leroy, Leroy,Leroy,Leroy,Leroy,Leroy,Leroy,Leroy,Leroy and Leroy came the reply. Wow! What do you do when you want them all to come in for supper? I jus hollers out LEROY and they all comes arunnin. What do you do if you just want one of them? I calls him by his last name.
I always respect my elders. With age comes wisdom. But an old dog never learns. Actually that's not true, I have had old dogs learn faster. -Peace, Dave
Since this seems to be the thread for random, disjointed witticisms, I heard an expression at a conference that I think applies to many on this board (I know it applied to me before I knew better). Applied to this group of seekers; as we gradually become aware that there may be hope for our formerly hopeless situations, and as we hope against hope that it might actually be true, we become rather like the proverbial Deer In The Headlights; Fascinated by the light, but afraid of the thunk.
You must have been feeding Rosanante pretty good these last few centuries. Poor old nag was supposed to be about as thin as a rail, all skin and bones
Why does the bill propose score disclosure only "In connection with an application for an extension of credit for a consumer purpose that is to be secured by a dwelling"? http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d107:s.01242: Aren't people who buy cars and automobile insurance affected by scores, too?
