What is the cheapest way to regularly check your credit scores? I see a lot of frequent checking on these sites, and wondering all you all do it w/o spending the $13-$15 per check........

What are the best services, websites, etc. to monitor your scores w/o spending a fortune doing it?

I mentioned this on a post last week... I use www.myfico.com(Equifax). You can check your report up to 6 times a year for $59.95, but I got an email offer for $15 off...so it was $44.95. That comes to about $7.50 a pop. Someone else posted that you can use a code(MYFICOVIP) on that website to receive the same offer. As far as checking all 3 bureaus, I don't know.

Privacyguard.com has a free 90 day trial of its service, which is a combined report from all three major bureas (unlimited views). After the 90 days, you get charged. I think its $89.95, which seems expensive, but since you'd only need the one site for all your reports, it actually ends up being cheaper that paying a smaller amount at three different sites. At any rate, the 90 free days might be right up your alley.

    Best regards.

PG scores should only be used for reference...they can often be skewed either way from what your "true" score is.

    Along these lines.....

What are "Fako" scores, excuse my ignorance, but I'm learning all these new terms!

Is a "Fako" a score from one of the reporting sites? Because I noticed a HUGE difference between my TU score between True Credit report anf MyFico..62 points to be exact (difference does include two deletions)

I recently got a TrueCredit 3-in-1 report for 24.95. (regularly 34.95) Initially, I wanted to look at only one report (Trans Union). After navigating past a couple of pages that said "Are you SURE you dont want the 3-in-1?" and clicking on "no, just trans union", a page popped up that said "10 bucks off the 3 in 1" So I ended up getting it. 25 bucks for a 3-in-1...not bad IMO. Just go to TrueCredit.com and click on 'single credit report'.

F.I.C.O. is a score that is from FAIR ISAAC and CO (FAIR is just a persons name...it is anything but FAIR)...

"IF" it does not say it is a F.I.C.O. score...then it is NOT A F.I.C.O. SCORE!!!

www.equifax.com is one of the FEW places you can get a F.I.C.O. score and credit report...

Any other scores are called by us F.A.C.O.

    What is a FICO® score?

The FICO score, developed by Fair, Isaac Inc. (the pioneer in credit scoring) is a number between 300 and 850 that lenders use to determine your credit risk. A FICO score is a snapshot of your credit risk at a particular point in time. The higher your credit score the more likely you are to be approved for loans and receive favorable rates.

More than 70% of the 100 largest financial institutions use FICO scores to make billions of credit decisions each year, including more than 75 percent of mortgage loan originations.

Equifax and Fair, Isaac demystified credit scores by being the first to provide consumers access to their FICO credit score - the credit score used by the vast majority of lenders to determine a consumer's credit rating.

"IF" it says score and report...LOOK FOR THE F.I.C.O. name...if it is nowhere to be found...it is most likely a F.A.C.O. score...

How in the heck are you guys getting updated 3 in 1 credit reports at Privacy Guard during your 90 day trial period? For me, it was the same report, with the same date and the same information. I'm just curious, how is it someone during the trial period can receive updated reports. The only way it appears to do so, is to pay the additional fees.

    Very curious.

Oh, I just wanted to add what I did for an updated report at PG. I created multiple accounts and only paid $1 each time. I paid an addt'l $10 once to get my scores too. But there is a hitch--you will need to use a different credit card, otherwise you get "this credit card is already being utilized for 90 trial period" message. I've checked the status of disputes very quickly doing this. I've cancelled a couple of memberships and will now re-use those credit card #'s again. So far it has worked like a dream and I hope PG doesn't catch on! Just think multiple updated reports for $1 each...lol! Just remember to keep track of names, password, and which CC was used, also print out a copy of the report, so if you don't cancel immediately, you will know when the trial period is up.

Anyone else out there doing this, or am I alone..lol!

All I did was click on the far left request for 3 in 1 report.....the one in the middle of the screen is the most current one, or rather probably the one you got originally.

Jerzy....I've heard other people mention it. I wonder if it helps get TU *b* any faster?

This info.was posted several months ago (by an "august" member) and worked for me 7/28/03 but DID NOT, showing as EXPIRED, as of a few days ago. Just wanted to update everyone on this on.

Faztcobra, any idea what you did to get the email offer sent so that I can try it to see if it results in a new promo. code for the $7.49 a pop EQ FICO deal ??

PG scores are calculated with the CreditXpert algorithm, owned by Neuristics, are worthless other than alerting you to look for a change in the TLs in your EQ column of the PG report, and HAVE NO UTILITY IN PREDICTING what's going on with your FICO score, the only one that is worth using as a benchmark on your credit repair efforts and supposed creditworthiness.

TrueCredit is CRAP. Stick with a TU direct report if you want report only.

If you want 3-in-1, which is ONLY good, IMO, for monitoring changes & early warning on dispute progress, Privacy Guard is only $1 for a 90 day trial and you can pull a NEW report EVERY DAY.

You can get the TU direct report for free, by using "denied credit in the last 60days, regardless of whether you actually were or not.

If you want a TU FICO report, get it at myFICO.com, using the promo. code "UnionPlus", for $11.01.

How to get PG new report -
    You have to click:
    3B Credit Report w/ 1B Score
under the Request Reports header. Otherwise you are looking at the last one you requested.

Do you guys have to wait a full 24 hrs before you get a new pg like eq or do you do it before, if so, are you sure it's a new one?
