I just took the 3 month trial on privacyguard. I checked the 3-1 scores. Privacyguard shows my Equifax at 653. Equifax/my fico shows me at 715 right now. What gives?

Glad to hear, kinda... PG shows me at 685 and I don't know what my FICO would be since I thought that was it. I was surprised to see mine that low since there are no derogs on any account. My problem is utilization rates. I know this doesn't answer your question, but thought I'd commiserate. Hope someone can provide some insight.

I've noticed that too. My Privacy Guard score is 621, while MyFico score is 662.

The difference in scores is because the PG score is not a fico score. If I remember it is a CreditXpert score. It uses the info from your reports, but the info used obviously varies from the fico score.

The only score you need to be concerned with is your Fico score. The PG score is good for only a general idea of how your scores are progressing.

PG 620, myFico 570 so it could go the other way too :(

Myfico is the grand-daddy of them all so go with it over PG's score.

So is the Equifax fico score from MyFico the most definitive/realistic, or do you really need the TU and EX scores as well (depending on what CR is pulled, of course)?

You should focus, as LKH said, on your FICO score. You have three FICO scores, each based on the data in the corresponding CRA's data file on you.

Usually the lender will pull all three and that lender's FICO score may or may not match the FICO score you can buy. The lender has the option of customizing the FICO score in several different ways.

You can buy all 3 FICO scores from myFICO.com. You cannot buy your EX FICO score anywhere else at this time. You can buy FICO reports and scores direct from EQ and TU which are identical to those at myFICO.com except that they will cost more, $12.95, versus the $11.65 you can get them for at myFICO.com using the promo. code "REP110".

BTW, I can confirm that LKH remembers correctly that PG gives a CreditXpert score because I see it printed as such every day on my PG reports.

Slight correction: I said "lender". I should have said "mortgage lender".
