I thought I had this issue well behind me but now a collection -deposit related account is on my report. I'll try to make this short. I had a job, credit union auto deposit on my check. When I quit, I had 2 weeks vacation and work to be paid as my last check. Instead of getting a check I got a negative check. What!!!!! Called and they said I owed them for travel 8 months prior that they never billed me for. No way! I argued with them for months and asked for proof and got no where. I was ready to fight for my paycheck but felt this corporate giant would never give up. I gave up and moved on. Later, years after,I found a collection account on my report and just wanted it off. They said they were the internal collections. I paid with the agreement to have it deleted and to never deal with them again. Now, 5 years later I find a credit union collection on my report ( different initials than the first). The status shows charged off and an open account. Ok, I have read that a ca and oc can both report but I thought they were one in the same. Can an account be both charged off-paid-and open???? I just went to dispute with the CRA but thought maybe someone here would know the best route to take. Funny, the more I try to clean up my credit, the lower my scores!!! And actually, this only lowered it 10 pts. For me, this was the short version. I wont announce the major corp that is now almost in bancruptcy that stiffed me on my last check when they were financially sound,lol.
Thanks for replying. I didn't try for validation as I never knew of a collection agency involved. I already paid a ca to remove 2 years ago for what I thought was this debt. Totally confusing. Anyhow, I was soooo mad about this but within a week it was gone. ????? I hadn't even disputed it. I just hope it doesn't come back. This was quite awhile ago but my computer went down, just got my new one.
