I had money withdrawn by Credit Union to cover towing and storage fee of a car that I financed through them. They withdrew this money out of my checking account without my written nor verbal consent. Is this type of thing legal? Thanks

    Yes, they can do that.

If you read your account agreement, it says something about the CU being able to take money from your account to satisfy any outstanding balance owed on a CU loan or account.

    It's called executing an offset.
