If you sign up for the 3 CRAâ??s credit watch programs. Is it 100% you will be emailed or notified some way, when a hard inquiry has posted to your credit file or is it only when a new account shows up?
I get notifications from Creditwatch whenever there is ANY change to my CRA file - new accounts, inquiries, even deletions.
Re: Re: Credit Watch Programs I HAD CW FOR 365 DAYS...I NEVER GOT ANY E-MAIL NOTICES OF ANY KIND!!!!!!! I got the "CHANGES" by SNAIL MAIL...(UP-DATED REPORT)...when I disputed something ON-LINE...
Re: Re: Credit Watch Programs I got notified sometimes...and sometimes it took months before I got notified. I would not count on those notifications.
Re: Re: Credit Watch Programs Thanks for the info guys! So I guess sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.
Re: Re: Re: Credit Watch Programs Correct. I'm not as addicted to checking my reports like I once was. I order mine via snail mail every 3-4 months. Three or 4 reports a year is enough for me now. Another reason I choose snail mail is because when I first started coming here, everyone used the online monitoring services. These services advertised "Unlimited" reports. That meant 1 every 24 hours to them. Anyway, it's a 50/50 chance that you'll get notified of any changes. Not worth the $$$ to me.
No, don't trust the notices. And you are also quite unlikely to need the services. If you're starting some major credit repair and you're on a tight schedule and need to know EXACTLY when certain items hit your file, get the services but check them yourself. I got notifications allright but here are examples of what they missed: - one judgment coming off - an account that was closed 4 years ago being marked with a 30-day late out of the blue. - a change in total balance on one account so serious that it took me down 30 points. So if you're in the business of constantly needing credit, they're worth it. Otherwise, just fork over $30 for all three credit reports every 4 months.
Thanks again! It's just that I've been told a few times that they don't really work too well. I signed up with credit expert but I don't ever get emails after I've applied for something that pulled from Experian. When these systems do work, do they tell you what the change is or do they just tell you that there has been a change?
they tell you there's been a change and then you can go and see it. So, yes, when they work they show the change.
