Creditexpert - Delete old inquiry!

Here is the short and sweet results when I deleted a May 2000 hard inquiry. The result is an increase of 3 points on my credit score.

At a later time, I will discuss the results of the 12+ inquiries I have deleted via Creditexpert so far.

In the interin, I want to make clear that apparently inquiriy(s) over one year old continue to hurt a credit score. Deletion of these older inquiries obviously helps the credit score.

There has been discussion on the board that after 6 months have passed since an inquiry - there is no effect on the credit score. I believe this to be nonsense based on my Creitexpert score change.

    Best regards,

    Jim

    Hey Jim,
Good to see you around. I believe an inquiry's effects are strongest in the first six months but can affect the score for the full 2 years they are reported. Maybe I have it wrong, who knows with the not Fair Isaac crap but...Congrats on the 12+1 inquiries removed though.

THE RUMOR MILL SAYS...inquiries are supposed to hurt most for 6 months...a little less up to one year...after one year don't hurt...(BUT THEY ARE STILL ON THERE FOR 2 YEARS)...

ONLY F.I.C.O. KNOW FOR SURE...and they WON'T tell...

    Thanks Nave!!!

    Good to hear from you.

I have had 12 inquiries deleted via Creditexpert. Two (2) are in dispute. Therefore, my 12+ comment in regard to a future thread.

I had noticed that each inquiry deletion seemed to be worth 2-3 points. However, I was very surprised to see that my oldest inquiry deletion (May 2000) would increae my score 3 points. I thought it might increase my score 1 point at the most.

Are these all hard inquiries? can you dispute soft inquiries (AR/PRM/Disclosures) as well? Just curious.

From what I remember CreditExpert is admittedly a facsimile of a score not a score model they actually dissiminate...

so what affects their model may or may not affect real fico models and in the same increments.

I know the experiential date on the mortgage models tells that 90 days hurts the most... then you recoup about 3/4s of the points after 90 days and the rest you gain over the rest of the 1 year period...

I do wonder why the Stooges keep them for 2 years. I wonder how the data is being used. Even if it's not in the model I wonder what they're doing with it.

Selling another product?... keeping another database of applications? who knows.

    Hi GEORGE!!!

On another topic, My Nextcard is in the drawer collecting dust. 15.9% apr. is outrageous. I am sure you agree.

I disputed and got removed 12 "hard inquiries". 2 additional "hard inquiries" are disputed but not yet removed.

I have not disputed any "soft inquiries". However, Leo has done this. I believe he was successful. You should post to him on the board as this is a separate topic related to mortgage lending.

    Best regards,

    Jim

    Hi Marie!!!

Interesting comments - You know more than me here in regard to mortgage lending. Perhaps your colleague in mortgage lending could give an opinion.

Keep us posted about the "OPTOUT" matter.

    Here is an update...

Today, a July 2001 Capital One inquiry was deleted as the result of my dispute via Creditexpert.

    My score rose 2 points.

To date, I have had 13 "hard inquiry" deletions via Creditexpert. The increase in credit score has been consistently 2-3 points per deletion. Apparently the age of the inquiry seems to make no difference.

I received a 3 point increase for a May 2000 inquiry deletion and 2 points for a July 2001 deletion.

I don't know if it is luck of the draw - but I have managed to have several old inquiries deleted via Creditexpert as well.

What annoys me are the collection accounts. In the past month I have had two collection accounts deleted, only to have them reappear under another collection agencies name a few days later. It is almost as if someone from the old collection agency is calling the one they have sold it to and telling them to update my report - but then I am a bit paranoid. Of course with the new entries, the date is always wrong - they try reaging it - both are in dispute.

My poor score on Creditexpert looks like a bouncing ball over the past month.
