I just tryed the simulator and I was wondering if in your experience it was accurate? Did you ever change any specific behaviors as a result of manipulating the simulator (the sounds almost obsene I know) and have your scores go up significantly or at least accurately? thanks

    Dear Diane,

My fiance and I are buying a house ands the simulator said her score would go from 665 to somewhere in between 735 and 755 by paying down her 16,000 credit card debt to zero. she has a total credit limit combined of 30,000. I think the jump is amazing and hope the simulator is correct. $mail me in a month and I will let you know if it worked. My email is pittsburghla@aol.com. Wait until October 1 which is when we close. I will for sure know by then.

    Take care, Eddie

I don't think any of the simulators are correct. They sort of act as a very loose guide. Don't count on getting the points that it says that you will get. No doubt your score will go up, but not usually to the highest poing level in the range they give you. And usually the lowest number on the range is where you are already.

For the EX simulator, don't forget that the simulation doesn't start with your current score. For example, my EX is 677 but the simulator starts at 720 for me. Thus you can't tell exactly where you'll really end up. Also, I had a ton of hard inquiries that were deleted and my score was supposed to go up a bunch according to the simulator. It didn't budge an inch.

As for that not-so-delightful FICO simulator in EQ, don't trust it at all. I had high hopes of a major score jump by paying down my CC balances. It had told me my score would be in the range of 694-734 if I paid down my balances a certain amount. I did that and my score only went to 669. Not even close!
