Last week I ordered their free 30 day trial through Nextcard. They said they needed proof of identity before they could sign me up. I am getting impatient. Does anyone know how long it will take after they get your proof before they activate you? Of intereest, this is through Nextcard. They send me a bill each month, I pay it. Never late, never a problem. Why do they have to verify my identity? Nextcard knows who I am. The proof was sent to Nextcard, not CE. I just think it is stupid.
Experian and CE will request additional information if they have multiple addresses in your file. Many times it could be as simple as an incomplete address missing an apartment number or an abbreviation when they have the word spelled out completely. In either case, the idenitification should be sent to CE or Experian. There is no reason to send your credit card company proof of id. When you do send it to CE/Experian they will usually respond within a week.
When I quit telling them they did not need my proof of identity and just sent it in they set me up within a week. I figured what the heck, they know so much about me anyway just send it. I am happy I did except when I see all too often how they play with the score. Goes up and down more than a tetter totter. (not sure how to spell that) John
I don't know about nextcard, but I signed up directly at creditexpert. They couldn't do it because they needed to verify address. I had previously disputed the address they listed (they had me at my x-husbands, yuck!!. I've lived in my home continously for 13 years). Rather than just delete the bad address, they deleted all of them. anyway, to answer your question somewhat, it took 5 days from the day I put address verification in the mail until I was able to finish signing up
Now it is Thursday so it has been a full week. Still waiting. Just anxious I guess. The deal with Nextcard is that they offer the plan to all their customers. The address for verification was Nextcards, not CE. I have put this off long enough so it will be interesting to see my score.
