I was just discussing my student loans with a creditor regarding who serviced them in the past. She said the entry I asked her about was wrong and to dispute it with the CRAs. I told her that I swore the CRAs didn't verify HALF the things they say they do - AND SHE AGREED! She said they absolutely don't and they open themselves up to lawsuits by informed consumers. She said Experian is especially bad in their experiences. I don't know that this helps anyone but it felt good to, at least one time, hear a CREDITOR slam the CRAs!
Wow! Straight from the horse's mouth. So true, too--I just had them verify a closed account as being open (for a SECOND time), even though I have a letter from the creditor stating it's closed, AND the original creditor doesn't have any record of my account! I am faxing them a nasty letter along with the one from the creditor very soon. Experian LIES like a rug to us every chance they get, and I think it's hilarious that creditors not only know this, but tell their customers about it!
