    Hey all,

This is a general question for those of you out there with experience with "minor" credit blemishes.

As a rule, when do most creditors report an account as 30 days past due? I have spoken with many of my creditors and most tell me they don't report an account as 30 days late until it has gone past 60 days without a payment. Many of them say they report "within a few days after 30 days". It is hard to get a direct answer.

What are your experience with this? How difficult would a 30 day late notation be to remove if the account is brought back into good standing and has a good history?

Is this for a clean account that you are just wondering about, or have you actually been 30 days late and are just trying to figure out when they report?

Well, its for an account that is clean, but I honestly forgot to make a payment last month and didn't realize it until it was almost 30 days past. I called the creditor (a student loan company) and notified them that I was sending payment immediately (they didn't take online or telephone payments). They said they would record that I was sending payment and she said "there would be no credit reporting at this time" but that is as detailed as she got.

For my student loans, they would not report unless you were 90 days past due. This worked in my favor because I was actually 60 days and they removed the late notations. This was the policy of Direct Loans, perhaps it is with your issuer?
