Here is the situation..... Have a Creditrust line on my report. As you know, Creditrust was bought by NCO - BUT the line is still reported as Creditrust. I sent letters to the address for Creditrust and they came back as non-deliverable. What should I do? Send validation letters to NCO. I'm worried they might pull a move by where they take off Creditrust and put their line as a new account. Your help would be much appreciated. -Will
Have you disputed? Here's my thinking... If they verify it or have verified it, ask for a procedures request. When they provide you with the bogus address, then send them a copy of the unopened, undeliverable mail (was it certified?), and ask them how the heck they verified it at this bad address. My only concern would be, if they somehow know to go to NCO with this?? These are just thoughts..
FINALLY!! IT IS GONE. Thanks for the help and suggestions. Now all I need to do is get one trade line removed. I will post THAT situation as a seperate thread. Again folks...THANKS -Will
Since i kept sending letters to the address that was provided for creditrust and they can being returned to sender. I sent those to the CRA and they removed.
Which basically proves that they weren't doing verification, too. (Was the CRA verifying this account until you sent them the returned letters?)
You should do that online FTC complaint and tell them what happened. I think if enough people call and complain that the CRAs are not investigating or are falsely claming they did when they didn't, maybe someone, somewhere will actually do a real investigation and slap some major fines on them...or better yet, put them out of business.
Re: Creditrust/NCO Help Me please!! Here is a link to a letter from FTC to an attorney of creditrust. NCO Portfolio Management stated that they would not report these accounts to cra and not contact a consumers creditors to ascertain location information. I had an account on my report in January 2001 and it was gone in Febuary 2001, I never disputed. http://www.ftc.gov/os/closings/staff/creditrustcorporation.pdf brauson
