I don't recall if I paid it off through a collection agency or in a settlement to Cap 1 but they show as paid for less than full benefits. I want to send the following via mail and Planet Feedback what do all of you think?

    In regards to:

    Dear Eugene Cooke,
    SUBJECT:CONSIDERATION OF MY ACCOUNT
Mr. Cooke, I hope you can assist me. I had an account with Capitol One in the past, My account number off my credit report is 53075821XXXX. Due to a job loss and the prospect of a prolonged unemployment period I settled with your firm for less than the full amount I owed to you. Originally I had been working with a debt management firm and was shocked when I had found out that they were not making the payments in a timely manor to your firm. After this came to my attention is when I made the settlement with your company. I have since gotten new employment as a state employee but am continuing to look for work in the private sector in the field I used to work in. Many places that I have applied for told me I was not considered for a position due to my low credit scores. For a while I thought I could not do anything but wait until the accounts dropped off my credit report in seven years. I have found out recently that the information provided to a credit bureau can be changed by the firm reporting it so I am writing you this letter. In a gesture of good will , I would like your firm to stop reporting this account entirely to the bureaus. If you are unwilling to do that, I would like you to reopen this account with a low limit of $200.00-$300.00 so I can prove over time that I am a good credit risk. I have made attempts to pay off every creditor that I owed and believe my credit score does not represent my current positions correctly.
    Sincerely,

I just spoke to someone at the Capital One executive offices and was told Eugene Cooke was no longer there.
