Hi all, I'm wanting to send a goodwill letter to a bank that originally financed my car then transferred the account to another lender. 1 or 2 30day lates on the reports. I devised 2 letters but I am unsure about which one to send: Regarding: Account No. xxxx Union Planters National Bank ATTN : Joe Collector 728 Melrose Ave Nashville, TN 37211 Dear Joe, I am writing a letter about my experience with UPBNA that is a mixture of a grateful "thank-you" and a pressing request concerning a tradeline in my credit files that I would like to have revised. I received an auto loan in 1998, While transitioning from the military lifestyle I was so accustomed to back to a civilian lifestyle. I became disorganized with an unexpected payroll error and, as you saw, making timely payments with UPBNA. I fully recognize my responsibility with respect to payable accounts and have worked diligently to rehabilitate my relationship with UPBNA since that time. To be honest, that year was a "wake-up" call for me regarding fiscal organization. Since then I believe I have learned the essential organizational and financial management principles I desperately needed at that point. Thankfully, responsible credit management is now reflected in my credit records which -- excluding the UPBNA late entry -- are excellent. I wish to thank you for renewing your confidence in me and for giving me a second chance at a relationship with you, one that I am determined to keep spotless. My family has a long outstanding relationship with your local branch, and I am hoping to apply for our first mortgage with you soon and it has come to my attention that the late notations from UPBNA may preclude me from taking full advantage of the very lowest interest rates now available. Since those notations do not reflect my current status with UPBNA, I am requesting that you give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by revising those tradelines. Your customer service repesentative suggested that I write you for a "goodwill adjustment." I sincerely hope that there is redemption at UPBNA, and I beg you for such consideration. Please let me know if any additional documentation would assist in reaching a positive outcome, and I thank you again for the time you have spent reading this letter. Very hopefully yours, or, Regarding: Account No. xxxxx UPBNA ATTN: joe Collector 728 Melrose Ave. Nashville, TN 37211 Dear Mr. Joe, I have been a UPBNA customer for over a year now and I am very happy with my experience with your institute. I am writing to see if you would be willing to make a "goodwill" adjustment to your reporting to the three credit agencies. I have a couple of late payments on the above-mentioned account that occurred in 1999. I would like you to consider removing the negative payments from my credit report. At the time of these late payments, I was transitioning from the military life back to civilian life and had an unexpected payroll error. I say that not to justify why the payments were late, but rather to show that the late payments are not a clear indication of my actual credit worthiness. I hope UPBNA would be willing to work with me on erasing these marks from my report. I chose UPBNA because of you came highly recommended as being a customer-oriented bank with great rates. I was disappointed to find out months later that UPBNA transferred my account to another lender. This past account came to my attention after applying for a second loan through UPBNA, and hopefully this summer, my first mortgage. With today's credit industry so competitive, I know how important it is to maintain good relationships with customers. UPBNA has been exceptional in my book so far and I highly recommend you to all my friends and family. I hope that you will deeply consider my request and prove once again, why UPBNA is heads above the rest. I look forward to your timely reply. Very hopefully yours, Any feedback, whether good or bad is appreciated.
I personally like the first one best. However, hang onto both, because of you aren't granted this time, you can keep trying indefinately. I don't know how large your OC is, but whenever I am trying to get something pushed through at the CRAs I fax it to every fax number I can find hoping one will respond favorably. Good luck!
thank you for taking the time to read and reply. I also like the first one. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again
