I recently inquired as to why CCB closed their Silver Preferred phone line. This phone line was free, you could check balances, available credit, pay by phone, talk to Customer Servive, ( now there's a department at CCB that is a big JOKE), ALL OF THIS FREE LIKE MOST OTHER BANKS. I was told they closed it because it wasn't profitable. So I asked what about the fact it was good for the customers, and showed they were doing what other banks are doing for their customers. That was the wrong thing to say, I was told that it did not matter what the customers wanted or needed. And that CCB was there to turn a profit any way possible. What a crock, we all know CROOKS COUNTRY BANK is the biggest bunch of crooks out there. So now if you want to talk to Customer Service you have to make a long distance call, and if you use their 800 # to check balances, etc. then it cost you 50 cents per inquiry. So I call the long distance no. used for customer service, and checked MA's balance, and at 5 cents per minute it cost me 25 cents for 5 minutes, cheaper than the 800 #. If you pay 7 cents per minute for long distance then it would cost you 35 cents and so on. This is just another way to save when using CROOKS COUNTRY BANK, the bank that cares about their customers. Know that's the biggest lie in the credit card business. Can't wait to see what they come up with to screw their customers next.
RE: CROOKS COUNTRY BANK what a Cross Country _will_ turn a profit _any way possible_. And even any way improbable, unbelievable, and despicable. Frankly, the customer be damned.
RE: CROOKS COUNTRY BANK what a I must admit, I've been following your stories for a long time. I too had a CCB silver card and mastercard with high balances. Because of everything I've read, my husband transferred those balances onto his Visa. Taking the advice of another on the board, I verified the balances were paid and mailed a letter stating to close the accounts IMMEDIATLY and to send me the amount owed to me (over-payment). I also sent the letter with a return receipt requested. Any other info you have to make sure this ends the way it better?
RE: CROOKS COUNTRY BANK what a Olamp, You have done everything rite, I would call in a couple of weeks and see if there is still a balance though. With CROOKS COUNTRY BANK only time will tell. I hope it ends ok for you. Good Luck! One other thing, you will want to make sure they report the account as "closed by consumer".
RE: CROOKS COUNTRY BANK what a you can call 800-992-3274 I always do. nice folks. If they redirect you to call another number, just chat about the weather....
