    Hi All:

I have a question. My daugher in law had a Cross Country Bank Account opened up in her name by a fraud applicant. She send in a signed Affidavit saying she did not open the account.

    They wrote back this:

Copy of Application signed by her.
Copy of some Money Order for the card.
A phone number used to open activate the account

They said they want their money and request for fraud is denied.

She never opened the account. A money order was used to pay for the account. The phone does not belong to her. We think the account was opened by a friend that was staying with her at the time. This friend has since been deported back to another country. But she does not want to even suggest that to cross counrty.

What should my daughter-in law do next. Is there a letter around her with some strong words that could be sent to these crooks at Cross Country.

    Thanks

    She has two choices:

    1) Pay the bill.

    2) Call the police, file a report and then send it to Cross Country.

Let's be honest here. She knows who opened the account, but she doesn't want to get ther "friend" into trouble.

Well, she has a choice. Either pay the bill or teach her friend a lesson.

Without a police report, the CC issuer isn't going to buy the story.

no police report,, no removal..believe me i know, thats CCB's rules. she had best file the report. or she gets no creditfor more than 7 yrs because they will constantly update the DOLA, it will only go from bad to worse. trust me on this one, u will never escape the nightmare with them if u dont get out while u can.
