I recently received six different copies of the same form letter from CSC Credit Services. I did some research and assume that these letters have arrived in response to several disputes and/or validation requests I sent to Equifax, though CSC never identified itself as being affiliated with Equifax in its correspondence to me. The letter states: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for contacting CSC Credit Services. Your request concerning your CSC Credit Services credit report has been received and we are looking forward to serving you. To be sure that no one other than you receives your personal credit information, please forward to us the items listed below. This information is needed to process your request and we will be unable to respond without it. A copy of your credit file will not be sent to you until the information we are requesting is received in our office. Please send a photocopy of: - Social Security Card or Pay Stub with Social Security Number - Driver's License or Utility Bill or Lease Agreement (containing current address) Please print clearly and complete all sections: - Name (Last, First, Middle) - Former Name(s) - Current Address - City/State/Zip - Former Addresses for the last 5 years - Social Security Number - Date of Birth - Day Phone Number - Evening Phone Number - Signature Please send the information to: CSC Credit Services Disputes P.O. Box 619054 Dallas, TX 75261-9054 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is it just me, or is CSC requesting an unbelievable amount of additional information from me? I wouldn't mail a copy of my SS card and license to ANYONE, much less a CRA that can't even bother to identify its link to another major CRA. In requesting additional information from me, I understand they are extending the allotted time for them to respond. I'm trying to get things done ASAP, so I want to be cooperative without screwing myself. What should I send?
Your drivers license or utility bill and ss card or pay stub - assuming you want to get copies of your reports. They aren't extending the time. They do the investigations, they just don't mail out the results.
