Anyone here have experience with getting an auto loan through a credit union with really bad credit?. I joined two recently just so that I can apply for a loan to buy a car.

But, they refused to give me the regular checking account. One gave me savings only and one gave me a lesser checking account due to my credit report. I have a 489 Equifax and Tu (which they probably pulled is the same or worse.

The lady there told me that I could still apply for a car loan. But what are the chances of approval when I can't get a checking account?

I don't THINK they denied it becasue of Chexsystems or anything like that--just my bureau report. But how do I check the chexsystems stuff?

I can easily support a car payment but I may not be able to get a loan. Boy, it hurts to pay for the things you do!

You can, just make sure the loan is deducted from your savings account or payroll. Also sign up for direct deposit. I have been up and down with my credit union for over 17 years. I have even screwed up a credit card with them (twice). I know they would give me one now, I just don't have the nerve to ask. I like credit unions much more than banks for my big purchases.
