Hi I searched post for where to send for a goodwill adjustment for citibank. The post are from OCT 2000 and it said to go through planetfeedback. I was looking around that site and couldn't figure out where to send the letter. Also another post said to write to the president of citibank, does anyone have the address to this person? Thanks, Kim
Kim, We used this address and faxed the goodwill request in. Citibank Credit Bureau Disputes P.O. Box 6241 Sioux Falls, SD 57117 Fax : 605-330-6780 We were showing a charge off on Experian with a $528 balance from around 1995. We weren't sure of the exact circumstances but remembered some kind of contact about 4 years ago to pay a portion and they'd discontinue collection efforts. We had done so. (We didn't remember if this was directly through Citi or through a CA.) To make a long story short, we got a response in about 10 days and they deleted the tradeline entirely. About 2 weeks later we applied for the BDD and now have a Platinum Select with them with a $17,500 credit line. Needless to say, we think Citi is the greatest! Hope it goes as well for you. nquisitive
No, I wrote to the department at Citibank that I listed above, and wrote a humble letter asking to remove it from my credit report. They did so very quickly.
You did better than I did, then, if that department responded favorably. The Citi credit bureau dept. went strictly by the book in my case. Even to the point that they submitted to all the CRAs that my account was "in dispute", thus following the law but also sending my score down due to a new DLA. I wrote Citibank via PFB (choose "Citibank, N.A.") and the Office of the President responded by telephone (and letter) and agreed to delete the day after I sent the letter. Interestingly, I faxed the exact same letter to the credit reporting dept the same day I sent the PFB letter and the credit dept rejected my request saying that they would update that it was in dispute. It took a second call to my contact at the Office of the President to get *that* straightened out. But it got done and got "gone" in one week...
Marci, How long did it take them to delete the Citibank tradeline once they agreed to do it? Well, I just got my last charge-off removed from my credit reports. (3/3) I PFB'ed Citibank NA regarding my paid charge-off from 98, and they agreed to do a Goodwill delete. I paid the remaining amount of a settled Capital One charge off in exchange for deletion and a new card. I paid my AMEX chargeoff in full, and contacted the AMEX Credit Bureau, who gave me a goodwill deletion.. My reports are almost clean....prime cards, here we come!! My scores were in the low 500s when I found this board in May,2001, and now they are in the mid 600s (and will probably be in the upper 600s once my last Chargeoff is deleted!) Thanks, Creditneters!! jmart
Hey jmart. What does PFB mean? I'm currently trying to figure out how to remove a charge-off on my credit reports it's a pretty weird situation. Can you shed some light on how you disputed/negotiated all 3 of yours? Smitty Waassaaaaaabii! <watching Emeril Live>
I didn't have to disupte any of my charge-off's....PFB stands for Planet Feedback.. Write groveling letters to the creditors once you pay the debt back, and you can often talk them into deleting the chargeoff. jmart
I sent my goodwill adjustment request to Citibank via fax: 605-330-6780 Even though I sent the letter via fax, the "to" address I typed on the letter was: Credit Bureau Disputes P.O. Box 6241 Sioux Falls, SD 57117 Within two weeks they had completely updated the tradeline on all three bureaus to "paid, never late." Doc
"groveling"... I like that. I thought that's what I was doing, but I guess I have to pay the charge-off first. I've been trying to pester the hell outta of 'em to agree to removal after payment. Next step: pay up and start "groveling"... I still like that. Anyway, any examples of your letters or tips for sending one? These guys probably sent a memo to all of their reps telling them not to talk to me. I've done everything under the sun to aggravate them into submission. Some battles can't be won, I guess. I faxed the VP of credit (non)reporting today, so I'll wait to see what she has to say... this time. Thanks for any replys. Smitty When faced with two evils, I like to do the one I've never tried before.
People here will tell you NOT to pay your charge-off unless you can get an agreement in writing to delete in exchange.. While this is good advice, some credit card companies will simply not budge, especially if the amount owed is small.. If you can afford it, pay off your charge-off's, and then contact a customer advocate or the credit reporting bureau to try to get a "goodwill deletion". I've had success doing this with all 3 of my charge-off accounts (AMEX, Capital One, and Citi) jmart
It is a small amount... < $150. I have absolutely no problem paying it now. I just don't like the way it "popped up" outta nowhere on me. They finally sent proof, but the whole thing was kinda shady on their part. But as soon as it's paid, I'll be sure to take your advice. Smitty I filled out an application that said, "In Case Of Emergency Notify..." I wrote "911"... what's my mother going to do?
Hi Guys! going through the same situation. I had this student platinum card with citi bank back in 2008. It went into collection. Two months ago, I was able to settle it with collection agency. Now I have paid letter from collection agency. I got two problems. 1) can anyone please help me write down a good will deletion letters's main body. 2) what paperwork do i need to fax at 1-605-330-6780 (in addition to paid letter) Any help will be much much appreciated. Thanks! Sam
Check out our Sample Letter Section first. There's an example of a Goodwill letter in there that a lot of people like to use when drafting their own individual letters. Send along proof that the account has been paid with the letter, and I would recommend keeping your own GW letter as brief and to the point as possible. Good luck, and please come back to let us know how things play out!
