Damage control help needed with starting the credit repair process to early. I would appreciate anyoneâ??s comments or suggestions on getting a paid collection removed when it is supposed to.

    Background:
My fiancé had about 25 separate (this is not being disputed and each bill came as a separate collection account) medical bills sent in for collection (as reported correctly by the three CRA's) on 7/2000 totaling $2700. She paid the collection agency on 10/2001 which is also being correctly reported by the three CRA's.

We do not have records of When medical services on bills were performed nor do we have records of when the bills first became delinquent (we never paid them till they came through collections).

Credit repair process we took with Equifax to test the waters of disputing:
We sent a letter to Equifax disputing that the date of the commencement of delinquency was not being reported for all these collection accounts. We requested an investigation and if the date of the commencement of delinquency was not found the collections should be removed.

Subsequently Equifax Reported the following dates for each account:
    Date assigned: 7/2000
    Date reported: 10/2001
    Balance date: 10/2001
Date of Last Activity: 4/1999 (This may or may not be the date that the account went delinquent
    Status Date: 10/2001
They also provided CA contact info.

Equifax also stated the following in response: "Adverse accounts that have been paid in full will automatically be deleted seven years from the date of last activity."

    QUESTION:
    1) Should I contact the OC to determine the exact date of medical service and determine when it was first delinquent?

    2) When should the CRA remove the collection account: a) date it was sent to collections b) date bill became 30 days overdue c) date medical service was performed?

    3) What law could I quote when responding to the CRA when asking them to use one of the dates in question 2?

    4) How should I respond to CRA now that they have completed their investigation?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any suggestions. Wish I had found this group before we paid the CA.

Breeze (and Whychat for the website),

Thanks for the help! Received letter from CA for hospital saying that all accounts are being deleted (by request of their client) and they have requested CRA's to remove from report. Just need to follow up with CRA's now.

    Thanks again!!

    Rex
