Ok, I am trying to do the settlement thing. And it is not working for me....

I am calling these C/A's on the phone---I know I know I should not but trying to take of this fast. So, far every agency is stating no settlement. The amounts are both for $60. What type of approach or what language should I use??? Because my way is failing.

Dates on the accounts? How old are they?

Age of the debts make a difference on their willingness to settle. How old are they?

The debt is from 1997....I don't want to pay but, in order to obtain a new job position I have to. I need phone strategy for settlement and why are they saying they are not settling on the accounts.

"My client will not let us settle on the account."
    eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!

If their 'client' will not let them settle, then find a way to get them out of the loop. Send a C&D, hopefully, they will send the account back to the OC. That worked for me a few times. Then settle with the OC.

Who is reporting, the OC, CA or both?

On second thought, if they are only $60, why not go ahead and pay them to get the new position (and raise, I assume)? Then dispute them off later. They hopefully won't waste their time verifying a paid account a little down the road.

When you say still in the SOL= statue of limiitations....since I am in Texas it is 4 years. Is that leverage?? do I still have to pay??

Kinda confused about SOL when it comes the if they are still able to collect or not???

Love, can you clarify a little.

They cannot pursue collection after SOL, but they can continue to report it until the 7 yr period runs out.

Since it is old you have leverage.... You tell them, "gee, past SOL, haven't paid this puppy in 5 years and you want me to believe the client doesn't want you to settle? Hey, why don't you conference in the OC and see if he concurs with your statement!"

SCMomof5, like that but I did eventually call OC and they are stating they will only take that amount to settle the account as paid in full no deletion.

I am going to pay but was truely surprised at the NO settlement.... we need full payment---I was left like what????

And you stated they can not pusue collections after the SOL but when they sent me a letter it had that statement of "this an attempt to collect debt" and also is it true that if they are reporting it that is trying to collect also?????
