I came across this by accident the other day. Many of us were approved with a soft inquiry for Umbrella Bank's credit cards after opening an account online. I myself was approved in March for their Platinum Visa for $5k. At the time I applied for the checking account and was approved for the Visa, I did not open a savings account. Late last week I decided I wanted to move a portion of my existing savings to a different bank and decided to apply online for a savings account with Umbrella. When I applied online their system also said I was approved for a checking account, overdraft protection and a Classic Visa with a $3k limit. I accepted the credit card and sent in my initial deposit for the savings account. Will I actually get the new Classic Visa? I have no idea. If I do get it, will I be able to combine it with the Platinum Visa? Again, I don't know. I did email them after finishing with their online system to ask them when I would get my new card. They replied I would receive it in 7-10 days. Enjoy.
Ah, yes... I forgot to mention. They pulled two soft inquiries on my Experian report. My score is pretty much the same as it was when I was approved for the Platinum Visa (CE 707) but the difference is that my two Citibank cards with combined limits (as of last march) of $14,000 are missing for some reason from my Experian report. The missing high(er) limit cards may be one reason I was approved for only $3k this time.
www.umbrellabank.com is the link. Go back and search from some of the posts last March when people here were getting approved. They pull a soft inquiry ONLY from Experian when you open a deposit account and use it to approve you for other products. There is never a hard inquiry if you accept their cross-sell.
I know I should search, but do they report? I just discovered my hidden LOC is reporting, want a new one.
Interesting, I answered this once before but it looks like my post vanished. As far as I know they do not offer teaser balance transfer rates. They will do balance transfers at 9.9% for Platinum accounts or 10.9% for Classic accounts.
Thanks Dave. BTW, There's a wierd quirk to the board. If you post a reply to a thread when the last post is also by you, AND the fiteen minute lockdown period has not passed, your next reply will overwrite the last one. SO, you either have to wait 15 minutes, or wait until someone else posts on the thread while standing on one foot and singing "I wish I Was In Dixie" (yus yoking about the last two requirements!). Ain't technology great?
I remembered after posting that I saw an ad somewhere (I don't remember where, honest) for a battery powered musical condom that played that song. But that's a topic for some other board...
or you can just hit the quote button....type what you wanted to say, then cut the whole text (including the original quote) and then go back to the thread, hit reply and paste it there. That's what I do. I can't stand on one foot for long.
