Dave LV I would definitely like to get a VISA card from these people. If I got the card and later closed the checking account, will they close my credit card?
My dad was offered platinum visa $5000.....plus $2500 over draft protection...I think he told me he has a 732 EX. The accounts he applied for were basic checking, and rainy day savings.....btw he did NOT do direct deposit.
Ok now seriously, someone over at Umbrella is smoking crack! I just signed up for an account for a friend who really could use the money! He has a 580 fico(his highest fico score) with a current balance to credit limit ratio of 90% and one very late pay(180 days) and a paid judgement. They gave him a $2000 classic visa and a $1000 overdraft! Applied for the savings, bam another $2000 classic visa. So now the only pattern I can think of is they are going after the subprime market!!!
Well, I applied today. My Experian Creditexpert score is 690. I have no derogs. I was approved for a checking acct. Period. I called cust. service and asked why was I not approved for anything else. I was told someone would get back to me no later than the end of the day on Monday.
Sounds like you got a low level employee. Did you call the executive offices? Umbrella Bank Executive Offices 5818 S. Archer Summit Argo, Il 60501 708-458-2002 Perhaps they have a consumer advocate type person.
Just talked to a rep of theirs. She told me that there must be something in my credit history that does not qualify me for a cc offer. She never said anything about them NOT offering the cc anymore. In fact she said the automated system uses the computer to check the profile and it can offer cc, od protection, etc. and they cannot tell what criteria the system uses. Also they cannot change the offer because computer decided it. When I asked her if I could talk to a supervisor, she said even her superiors would not know what is the criteria, that information is either not disclosed or they don't know them. She was one of those disappointing reps when you get an idea right after a couple of minutes, that you are not going anywhere...
My CE score is 792.. I got accepted for the $2500 protection and noticed the $25/annual fee so declined that. I accepted the $5k card however. I also chose the $100 checking option..
DaveLV - one other question.. so now that I was approved for this card, should I now apply for a savings account? And then see if I get offered another platinum with that? Is that the process? so then I end up with 2 5k cards?
Just wanted to add, I just did it, and all I got approved for besides the checking was a home equity loan. So I didnt bother to do a savings acct. I cancelled the transaction. Oh well. At least it didn't cost me an inquiry! Thanks Dave LV!
I used my overdraft protection last month to see what would happen. I did get hit with the fee but the overdraft line did not report to any of the CRAs. So when I applied for the interest checking I took the 1k overdraft as well. It's expensive but it adds up to $2,000 in non-reporting credit I can use if I want.
How much was the fee? Is it basically like a cash advance? As for the overdraft line, its an additional $2.5k for me.. but it would be at 19% I believe.. Also - were you charged $25 up front? My other question.. if I apply for a savings account, I should theoretically be approved for another platinum card for $5k? Thanks Dave!!
What the hell is this. I applied with a 630 experian score and a clean chexsystems and was turned down for a checking account. I cannot get approved for anything ever.
I tried last night for a savings account and was approved for that as well as a checking account. My CE score is 635. I declined both, I am thinking that the credit card criteria has been raised. Best regards, Mirage
What a difference one derogatory credit line makes! With my Paid Charge off from Chevron now reading Paid As Agreed, I decide for the heck of it to go back and try the Umbrella BDD (I'm not sure I like that name BTW. It reminds me of that one scene in Austin Powers- The Spy Who Shagged Me--you know the one I mean!). I applied for the Rainy Day Savings Account. This time I was approved for a $5000 Umbrellair Visa. Hooowaaah. Dave, Thanks again. You da man!
