    :)

You absolutely will get that second card, too. Enjoy it I'm already halfway to my first free airline ticket on mine.

As I am a newbie please explain a little bit more about this bank, how much of a deposit did you make and what kind of scores did you have already. I assume I am working with a low score right now do to my credit history, I just started disputing thinks and have had some luck. Only major problem will be my student loans so any advice on how to raise my score would be greatly apprecaited

it's an online bank, low initial deposits, high interest, and they cross sell you different products if your scores are high enough.

Right. The checking account and the savings account I just signed up for require a $100 initial deposit (each). The beauty is, it costs you nothing to find out if you'll get the same deal; just a soft inquiry on Experian. If you sign up for the checking with a $100 deposit and at the end are not pre-approved for a credit card, then don't send in the $100 and it never happened.

I might suggest that you read this thread over again from the top, because it's all been pretty well covered; scores, everything. Also, run a search on Umbrella around the March-April 2002 timeframe. There were a number of discussions going on about this.

    THIS IS IMPORTANT!!

I posted this in a seperate thread, but I wanted to make sure that everyone who has been watching this thread got a notification.

Still haven't received the Umbrellair Platinum Visa that I was approved for on July 25th. I went online to look at my accounts for the first time. Lo and behold, I see a Platinum Visa with a $5000 CL and a $32 balance as of last Friday. Dinner in Chicago apparantly. I hope it was good.

So I get on the phone with their Customer Lack-Of-Service people (they remind me of dealing with X.com), and it turns out that somehow I am seeing someone else's account and the other person can see my accounts--checking, savings, Classic Visa, everything. Not only that, but they completely lost my Platinum account-- no record of the approval- nothing.

The guy said they could probably clear the whole thing up in the morning- at least I think he said that--he spoke with a very thick accent and I could hardly understand him.

All of you new Umbrella account holders-- I would advise you to go online and scrutinize your accounts very carefully.

Hummm...I've never had that problem, but I posted a few days ago that I never got my third account (the second platinum Visa) and that they called me to tell me they were closing my second account (classic Visa) because they do not allow two accounts.

The person who called me said she didn't know how I got issued the second card. I asked if they would combine the limit with my existing Platinum card but it looks like they didn't do it.

All in all I'm happy with them and have put some money into all of my accounts. My UmbrellaAIR card is my primary credit card now though. Between the 1,000 point opening bonus, the 5,000 point direct deposit bonus and my usage of the account, I am almost ready to redeem my first airline ticket.

Not bad for a card I've only had since March.

I havce NOT been happy either.. first, one of my accounts was apporved.. only checking, but they needed address proof for my savings so I faxed that. Then i get notice saying my account was going to be opened.. i received a welcome packet, but never a notice about ANY credit cards.. i was approved for the 5k, TWICE.. a few weeks later, just recently - i got a letter saying the accounts were CLOSED.. with my $100 checks enclosed.. wtf??

anyhow - thats how it ended for me..

Did you confirm that they are NOT located at the same address as the STATE LOONEY BIN???

I applied for the Umbrella checking account, and was approved with the $1,000 overdraft protection, but wasn't offered the cross-sell you spoke about. So I e-mailed them asking them why not. They e-mailed me back and said they were sorry, but that's just basically the breaks. When I wrote back asking for details of why I didn't qualify, their head of "customer service" (and I use the word "service" lightly), said we don't have to tell you a thing about why we didn't extend additional credit to you. They are probably right about that, because I wasn't declined for the product I had applied for. It was the snotty tone of both of their e-mails that really bugged me. They can keep their stinking checking account as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck with your deal, though. Hope it all works out for you. (Guess I'm not so jealous after all, that I didn't get the card(s)).

I was really bored tonite so I thought I'd see what Umbrella has to offer me. I checked off the $100 min. checking accout and was offered a 5,000 cl and 9.9 APR Plat. Visa. rewards card. and accepted since there is only a soft. inq. on Ex. I have a CE score of 719 with a paid chargeoff from "96.

Does anyone know if you do not send the $100 for the checking account do you still get the Visa. THX

I did the same thing and they offered me a $3000 cc. I called for details and they said no no the computer just does that and they do not want to give me the card. That was with I think over a 700 score.

I decided to try it myself - and got a $2000 CL with a $100 savings account.

I'm really happy with this as I've been trying to get some positive tradelines. With my new Target Card, GM Card and this - it should help. It'll trash my scores for awhile - but in the long run it'll be good.

Thanks Dave for posting this. I am hoping it's a soft as I've got 4 new inquriies (HH pulled two). Bumpage seems to be working for me - so hopefully these will go within the next two months.

Just wondered if this was still working for people and if those that got the visa's are "mostly" happy??
