Over a year ago my husband had a Corporate American Express that was in good stading until we had to charge 1500 on it in one month and we found ourselves unable to pay in off by the end of the month. Foolishly he did not pay for two or three months and then we got contacted by a CA. The CA worked with us and we paid back what we owed in three months and they deleted the negative items on our CR. The only negative thing it seems to say is "Account Closed by credit granter". Question: "Does that impact a score and how creditors see you? Question; " In your experience how willing is American Express to reage the account and perhaps give us an AMEX that better suits our needs like one that can carry a balance in an emergency.? IMPORTANT: They cannot do a credit recheck or they will see my husband charge off on another card (Working on that) Thanks Diane
Amex {and anyone else} will run a credit check if you apply for any of there cards. I'd get that credit report cleaned up prior to applying for anything.
I know it is better to have it closed by you. I don't think they will re-age the account. I tried to get my old regular green card re-opened, and they said, you can pay it, but no, we can't re-open it for me. I paid it, and I was told I could try back in 13 months, but there is no guarantee. Sadly, I defaulted on a measly 400. About the credit recheck, they keep VERY good records on people who have ever had accounts with them. A blacklist, but it is the general word on this board that you can try again after a year of it being paid. Whatever happens, I wish you luck.
Yeah you can try again, didn't some guy post on this board that he had previous problems with amex, and then recieved a Centurion card.
...AND I CAN'T EVEN GET A "PRE-APPROVED" PLAT CASH BACK or DELTA GOLD or a BLUE limit increase!!! AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A "BADDIE"... AMEX BLUE IS IN THE SOCK DRAWER...THEIR LOSS.
