    Hello Everyone,

It's been a long time since I visited this forum, but I was drawn back because of my needs and the fact that I know I am going to receive help.

    Here's my need:
I have several recent lates (2/3 30 day lates on 5 accounts) on my CR's and I decided to contact the creditor via mail, telephone and PFB. I explained to them that I was enduring a difficult financial hardship and sought help from a CCCS, which was a huge mistake because they made late payments on my accounts. (I then decided to cancel my membership and continued to make payments on my own however, and unfortunately, my CR was already ruined. Since, I joined the CCCS my credit accts were closed. I have not paid off the accounts, I still owe about 80% of the balances.)
I made it clear to them that I was responsible enough to continue making payments and that I did not opt for BK. I gave them a full explanantion of my financial hardship (which was a result of my credit ignorance). I received a response from all stating that the most they can do is waive the late fees. They also stated that tehy cannot remove the lates because they are reporting accurate information. I know its accurate, i just want a removal of these remarks for the sake of my credit.

What should I do next? (Some of the companies are MBNA and Citibank) Who should I contact? Is there a "success letter" when dealing these creditors?

come on you guys. Some of you have had lates removed by contacting the creditor directly or by using planetfeedback. Help her out with your info.

    Nancy,
I'm currently trying to get a creditor to change my account from some 30 and 60 day lates to non-rated until it is paid off. It is an auto loan through a bank. I was out of work a few months after the loss of one of my twin daughters. I recieved a letter in the mail this week saying they were researching my request and would contact me as soon as they came to a decision. I have no clue how it will go because I know I was late, but I haven't been late since I returned to work. I think it can go either way, but one thing I'm sure of, is that you should keep calling to talk to different people. I had 4 medical collection accounts from last year. The hospital didn't have the records anymore, the CA wanted their money but refused to delete. I must have talked to 3 different people. Then, I bypassed the local office of the CA and called the headquarter office in another state. I found a sympathetic ear. I paid them in full on a verbal promise to delete ( never do this) I go lucky. Since everyone else refused from the get-go, I figured this supervisor was trying to be helpful. The first deletions came off this week. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Don't give up. You have to keep trying. Whether you dispute or you are able to convince someone to help you, the bad marks will come off eventually, you just have to keep trying.

There is no law that says they have to report any information.

    Nancy,

I had a lot of luck getting a few lates removed by calling a getting name of someone who can make and decision and writing to them with some sad story. I have been pretty successful doing it this way. Usually the reps I call will tell me there is nothing they can do, with a little begging I get them to give me a name. So far I have got about 5 deleted this way. Be creative in coming up with story if don't already have one. That is what i did and it worked for me.

I had the best luck by waiting until my accounts were paid in full. I had several late pays on an auto loan. I emailed (never talked on the phone with anyone). I was nice from the get go, but I never gave a sob story, I said I was never late so prove it. We went back and forth for a while and I got mean. I said remove the lates or get sued. I got a response withing a day saying they would remove the lates and put it to an I1.
I had a charge off deleted by giving an "I don't remember this account but I'll pay if you delete" story, they bought it and it's gone.
I had an R9 changed to n R5 by giving a sob story about how I was young and foolish and didn't realize how credit would affect my future BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Mind you these accounts were already settled or paid off before I did any of this (except the middle one). Start off nice then get mean. It's not worth a lawsuit to them. I actually used the method Lizardking used for his car company, search for LizardKing car letter (it was in April of this year). GOOD LUCK!
