I recently went trough ex wife's TU Credit Report and found the following Negative Tradelines

    1. 1 30 days late payment on car payment, paid off in 12/02.
    2. paid collection for (under $100) Paid off 8/02
    3. paid collection for a medical bill (under $400) Paid off 2/01
    4. American Express charge off (around $1900) Paid off 7/02

For all the research I've done so far (still a newby) I think the best way to get this activity cleaned off the TU CR is

    1. send a "goodwill letter" to the OC reporting a 30 days late payment Do you agree?

    2. Send Validation Letters a la NUTCASE to BOTH CAs

    3. Send NUTCASE LETTER to American Express

Am I on the right track? Please advice.

    How Do I handle Amex?

It appears that Amex can forgive previous negative credit activity and has been know to give second chances to people. What would be the best way to handle the negative tradeline for Amex. The balance was charged off but paid 100%.

    How Do I handle Amex?

I don't want to give you any inaccurate advice or information, as I am new to this board as well... so I will just give you my experience w/ Amex. I had an Amex paid charge off that I noticed was still showing a $371 balance on TU so I called Amex and asked what the deal was, they said that their records showed that my account was paid in full and they would contact TU to make corrections. Pulled CR couple months later - Amex TL was deleted from TU, and on EQ the TL was changed from a negative (paid charge off) to a positive (now reads "Pays As Agreed"). So, I think of all the creditors I've dealt with, Amex has been the most accomodating (or if not that, then they have made screw-ups in my favor)... BUT, keep in mind I did this LONG before I found this board and maybe with more knowledge I'd have handled it differently - it just worked out in my favor in this particular instance...
