death of spouse - responsibility

    In the case of the death of your spouse, and there is only one card in their name only, are you responsible for the payments.
    We were separarted, not legally, when he comitted suicide. Just before his suicide he maxed out two cards, which, as I said, are in his name only. Will I be held accountable for these bills? Help! Please!

    Did he leave an estate? They can file a claim if he did. Otherwise, personally, no, you are not responsible if you didn't sign for the cards and the account was not joint.

    "JOINT" account is required to be RESPONSIBLE...
