    Hello.
I'm all new to these disputes and collection attempts.

I have researched previously and have sent the collecting agency a letter in which requests a proof of validation and here is what I received:

    ---------------

    Dear Mr. XXX:

We are in receipt of your letter dated APril 8, 2011 disputing the debt and requesting validation of the debt,

    - The name and address of the original and current creditor is:
    xxxxx, address

    - A copy of the itemized billing statement is enclosed. This billing statement shows how the claim amount is calculated.

    - No judgment has been entered.

    - This office's license number appears above.

    - Please note that neither this office nor our client make reports to any of the credit reporting agencies.

As to your other verification demands, although we certainly wish to be cooperative, there is no basis in law to substantiate your right to such information. In fact, court cases and the Federal Trade Commission have found there is no duty to comply with such excessive verification demands.

Should you have any questions regarding this account or if you wish to discuss payment arrangements please feel free to contact us.

    Thank you.

    --------------

And as per the part where they say my rights to such information is not substantiated by the law, they referenced Chaudry v. Gallerizzo and Stonehart v. Rosenthal.

I'm new to all of these and honestly I'm lost on how to respond to this. Does the letter above even properly validate my debts. Please help!

What's my next option if anything?

    Thanks!

Yes, what they sent it probably sufficient. If the debt it truly yours, the next step is to negotiate a settlement. How much debt are we talking about here?
