Medical bill $224 validated. Someone dropped the ball and did not send the claim to Cigna. Now, this debt is from 3 years ago with a previous employer. How do I proceed estoppel?? settlement?? **note--no xtra money to pay debt**

I also have Cigna. Yhey have been great so far. I had the same problem just a week or two ago. The doctor failed to send the bill to Cigna. Six months after the doctor visit, the doctor wanted me to pay because Cigna has a limit on the doctors. I think they have to submit the bill within three months of service or Cigna will not pay.

What saved me is this. Cigna has it in their contract with the doctors that if it is the doctors fault they did not get paid, they cannot make the patient pay the bill. I talked with a Cigna rep who talked to the doctors office. The doctor dropped the claim.

See if your Cigna contract has the same provision.

After having dealt with Healthnet HMO for two years, Cigna is like a breath of fresh air.

If they don't file the claim they shouldn't get paid!

I have been looking into this medical billing. My insurance company stated I was covered for the bill. They are verifying if it is duplicate billing and if not they will send a notice the the doctor's office stating they did not submit the bill in adequate time SOL has ran out and they can not collect on the bill also stating I was covered during that time. Do think that is going to be enough information for them to delete the account.
